Florida Authorities Apprehend Mother, Jamie Leigh Gunn For Leaving Baby and Toddler Unattended in Unlocked Vehicle During a Visit To a Bar

In Florida, a mother found herself in legal trouble after leaving her two young children unattended in her unlocked car outside a local bar.

The incident led to the arrest of 33-year-old Jamie Leigh Gunn on charges of child neglect, with her subsequent booking in Brevard County Jail.

West Melbourne Police reported that an officer on routine patrol at Annie's Bar discovered Gunn's eight-month-old baby and two-year-old toddler asleep in the backseat of an SUV parked outside the establishment.

The police noted that the vehicle was left unlocked with the engine running during the incident. Upon locating Gunn inside the bar socializing with a friend, authorities found that she had been inside for approximately 20 minutes, showing no concern for her unattended children.

According to a statement posted on Facebook by the police department, Gunn appeared more worried about the consequences of her actions than the well-being of her children when she learned of law enforcement's presence outside her vehicle.

After her arrest, Gunn was taken into custody and later released on a $15,000 bond the following day. The two children were entrusted to a family member, and the Department of Children and Families was notified to initiate a follow-up investigation.

Notably, Gunn's past criminal record includes offenses such as contempt of court, forgery, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license.
