Gunfire Erupts at Charlotte Taco Bell Over Wrong Change

A customer at a Taco Bell drive-thru in Charlotte, North Carolina, got really mad when he thought he got the wrong change. So, he stormed inside the restaurant with a gun and started shooting, according to what the police are saying.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department got calls around 9:30 p.m. on a Saturday about a shooting at the Taco Bell on the east side of the city. When the cops got there, they found an employee who had been shot several times.

Witnesses told the police that this customer had ordered some food in the drive-thru, but he got upset because he thought he got shortchanged. He didn't chill out; instead, he got more aggressive, came inside, and started shooting, hitting the employee multiple times.

The shooter took off, and the employee with life-threatening injuries was rushed to the hospital.

The police used video footage and what the witnesses said to figure out what kind of car the suspect was driving. Later that night, they found what they thought was the suspect's ride parked at an apartment complex.

A detective confirmed that it was the same "unique model" used in the shooting, and the owner matched the suspect's description. While detectives got arrest warrants, the officers kept an eye on the vehicle and the property.

Once they had the warrants, the detectives contacted the suspect, and they arrested him without any trouble.

According to sources, a local ABC affiliate named WSOC said the suspect is 67-year-old Doll McLendon, and he's been arrested on charges of trying to murder someone and shooting inside a place where people were at.

Jail records show that McLendon is stuck at the Mecklenburg County Jail without any chance for bail. The police haven't said how the employee is doing after the shooting.

Taco Bell Corp. released a statement saying they're shocked this happened. They said the franchise owner of this Taco Bell is working with the local authorities on the case and will offer support to all the workers who were there.
