Nevada Woman Arrested for Admitting to Tampering with Roommate's Water

A 20-year-old woman from Nevada found herself in handcuffs after admitting to meddling with her roommate and the roommate's 2-year-old child's water due to what she described as "petty arguments." Silua Lualemaga was apprehended last week and slapped with two counts of intentionally tampering with food, water, or medicine, as confirmed by authorities.

Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, at an apartment complex on Rock Springs Drive. The caller, Lualemaga's roommate, reported that someone had been introducing an "unknown substance" into their food and water.

The concerning details came from a probable cause affidavit obtained by Las Vegas CBS affiliate KLAS.

Upon their arrival, first responders spoke to the distressed woman who dialed 911. She explained that both she and her child had been seriously unwell since Monday, suffering from severe stomach discomfort, diarrhea, and vomiting.

According to KLAS, the woman, whose name was not disclosed in the affidavit, informed the officers that on Monday, she had bought and brought home several 5-gallon water jugs, storing them in their apartment. They had been using the water from these jugs to drink and prepare meals, and since then, they had been consistently ill.

The mother initially assumed it was food poisoning or a virus until Wednesday when she decided to inspect their food and water supply. It was then that she noticed something unusual inside the 5-gallon water jugs, resembling "a weird substance," as reported by KVVU, Las Vegas Fox affiliate.

Subsequently, the police decided to question Lualemaga about the tampering allegations.

When they informed her about the call regarding tampering with her roommate's food and water, Lualemaga reportedly responded with a smile and a small laugh. When asked about the food, she claimed nothing had been done to it. However, when questioned about the water, she admitted to adding extra virgin olive oil to it.

Lualemaga went on to explain that she had deliberately spiked her roommate's water with the oil about a month prior, driven by her frustration with the ongoing minor disputes they were having both at work and at home, as per KLAS.

Following her arrest, Lualemaga was booked into the Clarke County Detention Center but was later released on bond.
