Tragic Christmas Incident: Husband Fatally Stabbed by Wife Over Dinner Argument

In a shocking turn of events, a 54-year-old woman named Teresa Hanson has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her husband, Paul Hanson, whom she had been married to for 34 years.

Teresa Hanson found herself behind bars for taking her husband's life in a tragic incident. The Hull Crown Court found her guilty of murder after a swift deliberation by jurors, and she now faces a minimum of nine years in prison for her actions.

The dreadful event unfolded just three days after Christmas in their family home. During a heated argument, Teresa, in a fit of anger, thrust a small knife into Paul's chest, causing fatal damage to his heart. The weapon, only 2 centimeters wide, severed his largest artery, resulting in blood gushing from his body before he collapsed.

Teresa's explanation during the trial was that she simply wanted her husband to leave her alone. He had been yelling in her face and hurling derogatory insults at her while she was preparing a Mediterranean Tart for their dinner.

The couple before the incident

According to prosecutors, at approximately 7 pm on December 28, the fatal act occurred. Moments later, Teresa dialed for an ambulance and admitted that she had stabbed her husband in a fit of anger after their argument. She then called the police, reiterating her claim that she had stabbed Paul because he had verbally abused her.

It's worth noting that Teresa seemed entirely unaware of the gravity of her husband's injuries. She continued with her kitchen activities, even using the same knife for chopping onions, which would have been contaminated with blood and other bodily materials.

During a police interview at West Cowick, near Goole, East Yorkshire, Teresa chose to remain silent, providing only a pre-prepared statement. She contended that her husband had walked into the knife while she was holding it, though a pathologist dismissed this as highly unlikely. She maintained that the stabbing was an accident and that she had not intended to kill or seriously harm him.

Despite being repeatedly asked if this was just a "terrible accident," Teresa remained steadfast in her "No comment" response, even when questioned about her love for her husband, who had been the love of her life.
