Violent Cabin Showdown: Details of Luna Serrano's Alleged Attack on Ex-Boyfriend Emerges

Luna Serrano, aged 48, is facing a slew of charges after allegedly stabbing her ex-boyfriend while he slept in his cabin. Prior to the attack, Serrano sent a text challenging her former boyfriend to "fight to the death." Her charges include aggravated battery, burglary, and attempted first-degree murder.

This incident unfolded during a tumultuous night for Derek Hawkes and his new girlfriend, Manju Alexander.

Alexander, sleeping on the first floor of Hawkes' Idaho cabin, was awoken by a heated argument between Hawkes and Serrano. She described Serrano's behavior as erratic, prompting her to seek refuge under Hawkes' truck while calling the police.

Earlier on the same day, Hawkes had initiated the process of obtaining a restraining order against Serrano, who had recently broken into his home. The restraining order application was discovered by law enforcement following Serrano's arrest.

Upon police arrival, they discovered Hawkes, wearing only underwear, subduing Serrano on the ground. Hawkes had sustained injuries, including lacerations to his neck and chest. Serrano also exhibited injuries, such as a lump on her forehead and bruising around her eye, despite not having stab wounds.

Serrano explained to officers that she had been kicked out of Hawkes' cabin by him and his landlord. She claimed that she had come to repay a loan but admitted to her anger upon learning about Hawkes' new relationship.

She disclosed that she had parked her truck a short distance away and approached the cabin, subsequently gaining entry. She mentioned finding a pipe and marijuana in her car, which she claimed belonged to her.

In contrast, Hawkes contended that Serrano was only able to enter the cabin due to the door being damaged in a prior altercation, which left it unable to shut or lock properly.

According to Serrano's account, once inside, the situation escalated quickly. She accused Hawkes of assaulting her, prompting her to defend herself with a pair of scissors. She claimed the altercation led to both of them falling from the lofted bedroom to the living room below.

However, police scrutinized Serrano's narrative and found inconsistencies. Hawkes' version stated that Serrano had attacked him while he slept, stabbing him in the head and ribs. He claimed that he pushed her off the loft ladder after falling from his bed. The altercation allegedly continued with multiple stabbings.

The crime scene investigation revealed pools of blood throughout the cabin, particularly on a blanket, in the loft, on a dresser, and the lower level. Alexander's couch was also smeared with blood from the chaotic events.

Neighbors confirmed Hawkes' earlier apologies for the disturbances involving Serrano and cited a previous incident where she attempted to stab him in the ribs, resulting in her aggravated battery charge.

Serrano appeared in court for her initial appearance, with bond set at $250,000, and her next court date scheduled for October 11. She faces serious penalties for her charges, including a maximum sentence of 15 years for attempted first-degree murder, 15 years for aggravated battery, and 10 years for burglary.
