Alabama,Johnathan Fitzgerald Lockett's, a.k.a 'Master Lockett' Faces Lifetime Sentence for Shocking Crimes Against Women

A man known as "Master Lockett," convicted of 12 felony charges, including sexual assault and robbery against multiple women, faced sentencing in an Alabama court. Johnathan Fitzgerald Lockett, 42, expressed forgiveness towards his victims during the proceedings, prompting strong criticism from Circuit Judge Shanta Craig Owens.

Initially arrested in November 2020, Lockett faced charges of attempted rape, sodomy, and kidnapping for two incidents. Subsequent investigations linked him to over 30 offenses, leading to his conviction on 12 charges, including sodomy, robbery, rape, sexual torture, and theft.

The trial revealed Lockett's method of targeting women online, promising money through escort websites and dating apps before violently assaulting them.

Graphic details emerged, including instances where he raped a woman who worked as a dancer and later stole her handgun to assault another woman.

During the trial, Lockett testified that all encounters were consensual, filming them as proof. However, prosecutors presented compelling evidence, including a video where a victim pleaded for him to stop. On September 5, after seven hours of deliberation, Lockett was found guilty.

Before sentencing, Lockett refused to admit fault, proclaiming forgiveness for his victims. Judge Owens strongly criticized his statement, calling it a "slap in the face" considering the overwhelming evidence against him. The judge also acknowledged the credibility of the victims, praising their courage to testify despite their involvement in sex work.

Lockett received a 776-year prison sentence, running consecutively, ensuring he will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars. Judge Owens reminded him of the 20-year plea deal offered earlier, expressing disbelief that he did not consult loved ones before opting for a trial deemed impossible to win.
