The young girl, identified by sources as Amauri Hughes, was reported missing during a FaceTime call that took a dark turn. Authorities received a distressing call from a relative who witnessed the girl in a compromising situation, leading to a rushed search that ultimately ended in the discovery of her lifeless body.
Anderson, the 19-year-old boyfriend, was arrested and charged with multiple felonies related to the incident. Charging documents suggest a violent struggle during the FaceTime call, and the subsequent investigation uncovered disturbing evidence at Anderson's residence, including bloodstains, a knife, and a spent shell casing. Chemical luminol revealed a pervasive presence of blood throughout the residence.
Prior to this tragedy, Anderson had a history of legal issues, including a temporary order of protection in March 2022, indicating a risk to the safety of a woman and child connected to him. The order lapsed in July, raising concerns about the effectiveness of legal measures in domestic violence cases.
