In a shocking incident on November 3rd, a Florida couple, Michael Diaz, 34, and Taiana Tersano, 31, found themselves in handcuffs after attempting to lure a 9-year-old girl playing in her front yard into their van.
The alarming event unfolded on McKinley Street in Hollywood, as reported by the Hollywood Police Department and obtained by FOX 35 News.
Around 4:30 p.m., a concerned woman dialed 911, reporting that a van occupied by a man, a woman, and a small child had tried to entice her 9-year-old daughter into the vehicle. The young girl, under the watchful eye of her mom's boyfriend, was playing in the front yard when the van pulled up.
In a seemingly normal tone, Tersano rolled down her window and beckoned the girl, saying, "Come here," as per the arrest report. Frightened, the girl promptly ran inside the house. The mother, alerted by screams, rushed outside to witness Tersano attempting to approach her daughter. The boyfriend intervened, preventing any harm.
Tersano, frustrated, was heard threatening, "I'm going to come back and kill all of you," according to the report. A witness at a nearby stop sign corroborated the events, stating that the mother's boyfriend, sitting in his car, tried to deescalate the situation. However, Tersano responded by spitting on him and delivering a punch.
Diaz, the man in the van, was overheard instructing, "Grab the f------ kid," as per the arrest report. Tersano made another attempt to approach the 9-year-old, prompting the boyfriend to strike her in self-defense.
Subsequently, Tersano retreated to the van, and the couple fled the scene.
Providing the description to the police, officers managed to locate the van and conduct a traffic stop. During the stop, it was discovered that the couple's 7-year-old child was in the back, unrestrained and surrounded by "loose mechanical tools," leading to the involvement of child protective investigators.
Tersano's arrest took a tumultuous turn during the traffic stop. She jumped out of the patrol car, threw herself toward an officer upon opening the door, and resisted attempts to be placed back in the vehicle. She wrapped her legs around an officer's legs and struck an officer's hand with her feet.
Both Diaz and Tersano were apprehended, and their van was towed. They now face charges of luring/enticing a child under 12 and causing a child to become delinquent. Tersano also faces two additional counts of resisting an officer with violence.
