Hockey Star Milan Lucic Enters Not Guilty Plea in Assault Case: Accused of Choking Wife

Boston Bruins player Milan Lucic has entered a not guilty plea for an assault and battery charge, as reported by various sources after a hearing at Boston Municipal Court on Tuesday.

The incident, according to court records from NBC Boston and The Boston Globe, occurred around 1 a.m. on Saturday, resulting in Lucic's arrest for allegedly attempting to choke and pull his wife, Brittany Lucic, by her hair during a dispute.

Lucic, 35, was charged with assault and battery on a family member and was released on personal recognizance bail.

The altercation unfolded when Lucic, upon returning home, became agitated over his inability to locate his phone that evening, according to court documents obtained by media outlets.

When Brittany informed him she didn't know the phone's whereabouts, police allege Lucic grabbed her hair and pulled her backward, stating she couldn't leave.

Brittany promptly called 911, reporting that Lucic yelled at her, accusing her of hiding the phone. When officers arrived at the couple's apartment building, Lucic, reportedly appearing intoxicated, denied any wrongdoing.

During Tuesday's court hearing, Lucic remained mostly silent, except when addressing the judge.

As part of his bail conditions, Lucic must adhere to a no-abuse order and abstain from alcohol consumption throughout the case. Lucic's attorney successfully secured permission for him to attend the next hearing via video call, according to ESPN.

The pretrial date is set for Jan. 19, with Lucic exempt from appearing in person.
