Nick Bollea, known as the son of Hulk Hogan, faced yet another arrest tied to an alleged alcohol-related driving incident in Clearwater, Florida.
The complaint lodged against him claimed he refused to take a breathalyzer test after supposedly speeding at 51 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone, heading directly toward Clearwater Police Department vehicles. This prompted officers to signal him to steer away, but he allegedly disregarded their instructions.
Officers noted several signs indicating impairment during the encounter, citing a strong smell of alcohol emanating from Bollea, along with observed swaying, an unsteady balance, bloodshot, and glassy eyes. Consequently, Bollea was arrested at 1:42 a.m. on a Saturday.
This incident resurfaces Bollea's history of driving troubles. He had a prior charge of recklessness resulting in jail time and probation. The backstory involves a severe accident in 2007, where Bollea's reckless driving, coupled with alcohol involvement, caused significant injury to his friend, John Graziano. The crash led to Bollea's license suspension.
During the 2007 incident, Bollea, then 17, took one of his father's cars and drove Graziano, a former U.S. Marine, to a downtown Clearwater steakhouse. Allegedly, he engaged in a high-speed race, lost control of the vehicle, crashed into a median strip and a palm tree, causing Graziano a severe brain injury. Bollea's blood alcohol level was reported at 0.055 percent, a level recognized to impair judgment and decrease alertness.
Despite being unhurt and wearing a seatbelt, Bollea faced legal repercussions, including a three-year license suspension and an early release from jail due to good behavior. His driving history included multiple speeding citations, some involving speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, preceding the crash.
