Pennsylvania School Counselor,Kelly Ann Schutte Faces Allegations of Inappropriate Relationship with Student
In Pennsylvania, a 35-year-old middle school counselor, Kelly Ann Schutte, is facing serious allegations. It is claimed that she began grooming a 14-year-old boy in 2022 and engaged in a sexual relationship with him until the past summer, resulting in her arrest on three counts of institutional sexual assault, three counts of indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old, and one count of corruption of minors.
Schutte, employed at Pennridge South Middle School, had been on administrative leave for several months prior to her arrest.
The controversy surfaced on July 17 when the boy sought a ride from Schutte's residence, confessing to his parents that they were caught kissing by one of the educator's family members. This revelation led to a police report and Schutte's subsequent arrest.
The boy disclosed to investigators that the relationship began during the fall semester of 2022 when they sat together on a bus during a field trip. Allegedly, Schutte frequently called him to her office, causing him to miss class, and the relationship escalated to sexual activity in both Bucks and Montgomery counties.
The communication between Schutte and the child reportedly started on the school district's messaging app Canvas, transitioning to Snapchat during the summer.
Evidence, including messages, pictures, and handwritten notes, was found on the boy's cellphone, corroborating his statements. Surveillance footage and the discovery of one of Schutte's earrings at the boy's home further supported the case against her.
Schutte's arraignment took place on Friday, and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 10. She was released on $25,000 unsecured bail with conditions, including staying away from all Pennridge School District property and having no contact with the alleged victim.
The school district, acknowledging Schutte's leave since July, emphasized the importance of maintaining the privacy of the involved student and family. Superintendent Angelo Berrios stated the district's unequivocal stance against inappropriate contact between school employees and students, affirming that such behavior will not be tolerated.
