Parents Of Two Students in Westport, Connecticut, Are Suing a School After Their Children ate THC-laced candy on a school bus
Parents of two students in Westport, Connecticut, are suing the school district after their children consumed THC-laced candy on a school bus in December 2022.
The lawsuit alleges that the school district failed to properly supervise its students and that the bus company did not follow its safety protocols.
The candy was found on the bus by another student and given to the two plaintiffs, who ate it without realizing it was laced with THC. The children became ill after consuming the candy and had to be treated at an urgent care facility and a hospital.
The lawsuit alleges that the school district knew about the incident but did not take appropriate action to notify parents or the police. The school district is also accused of failing to properly investigate the incident and of trying to cover it up.
The bus company is accused of failing to follow its safety protocols, which require drivers to check buses for sleeping children after each drop-off run.
The bus driver on the day of the incident did not check the bus, and as a result, the THC-laced candy was not discovered.
The lawsuit is seeking damages from the school district, the bus company, and the high school student who left the candy on the bus.
