Ex-College Basketball Star, Kassceen Weaver Sentenced for Beating 5-Year-Old Son to Death and Concealing Body in Garage Freezer
A 51-year-old man from Virginia, Kassceen Weaver, a former basketball player at the University of Richmond, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the killing of his 5-year-old son, Eliel Adon Weaver. The boy's body was found in a freezer at their home after remaining undetected for over two years.
Weaver faced convictions on charges including felony murder, felony child neglect, and concealing a dead body, resulting in concurrent sentences of 20 years for murder, 10 years for child neglect, and five years for concealment.
Initially, Eliel’s mother, Dina Weaver, faced charges related to the boy's death, which were later dropped due to allegations of her being a victim of abuse by her husband.
The tragic incident occurred on October 23, 2018, with the boy's remains discovered in 2021. Investigations revealed that after the child's death, Weaver stored his body in a freezer in their garage.
Weaver was also charged with domestic assault and battery against his wife. Reports indicated he manipulated and abused her for years.
The investigation started when Weaver's brother-in-law reported concerns about domestic violence. He revealed that Weaver's wife had confided in him about their deceased son, prompting authorities to search Weaver’s home where they discovered the boy's remains.
Weaver’s wife testified that he informed her about their son’s unconsciousness and subsequent death. She claimed he refused to seek medical help, instead wrapping their son’s body and placing it in the freezer.
Facing a maximum of 55 years, Weaver received a 20-year sentence.
