Final Defendant, Jaime Moore Found Guilty in Alexis Alyssa Baca's Murder

A man, Jaime Moore, aged 32, has been convicted in connection with the brutal murder of 25-year-old Alexis Alyssa Baca in the Colorado mountains. Alongside three other individuals, Moore faced charges including first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, tampering with a deceased body, and tampering with physical evidence.

The Boulder County District Attorney's Office confirmed Moore as the final defendant found guilty in this heinous crime.

District Attorney Michael Dougherty expressed the gravity of the guilty verdict, emphasizing the premeditated and callous nature of the murder on Flagstaff Mountain. According to Dougherty, after fatally shooting Baca in the head, Moore and his accomplices took deliberate measures to evade capture, leaving Boulder and attempting to cover their tracks.

However, an extensive investigation by the Sheriff's Office uncovered their involvement and the specific roles each individual played in the crime.

The horrific discovery of Alexis Alyssa Baca's body was made by a hiker on July 25, 2022, at the Realization Point trailhead on Flagstaff Mountain outside Boulder. She was found with evident signs of violence—blood on her face, cigarette burns on her body, and a fatal gunshot wound to the back of her head. Additionally, she was wearing a pendant shaped like a grim reaper around her neck.

Authorities identified Baca through her fingerprints and traced her origins to Las Cruces, New Mexico. Investigations revealed that she had been involved in a traffic stop approximately five days before her body was discovered.

During this stop in Morgan County, Colorado, a man, whose identity was redacted from official documents, was apprehended due to outstanding warrants. This man disclosed to detectives that he and Baca were en route to Montana for a motorcycle purchase, carrying approximately $20,000 in cash and two Glock handguns.

Following the man's arrest, he instructed Baca to keep his car and stay in the area until he was released from jail, intending to resume their journey. Surveillance footage captured Baca driving around Boulder in the subsequent days. Moreover, investigators observed a Ford F-250, registered to Jaime Moore from Las Cruces, seemingly tailing Baca's vehicle.

Further details emerged from conversations with Baca's mother, who revealed that her daughter had contacted Moore, a friend, on July 23, 2022, stating she was stranded in Colorado. Moore, along with his fiancee Ashley Provine, Cody Hobirk, and Elizabeth Griffin, traveled to Colorado to assist Baca.

During the trial, Hobirk, aged 45, testified against Moore, narrating Moore's intentions to rob Baca. According to Hobirk's testimony, Moore expressed frustration with Baca and mentioned shooting her. The group drove to Realization Point, where Moore instructed Hobirk to ensure Baca was unarmed. Hobirk recounted the chilling moment when Moore fatally shot Baca as she exited her car in response to Moore's command.

Following the murder, Hobirk and Moore moved Baca's body to a wooded area near the parking lot and later disposed of her vehicle. Moore claimed that Baca had shot at him first, justifying his actions as self-defense. Subsequently, they seized approximately $6,000 in cash, 5,000 pills, and two laptops from Baca.

All four individuals were apprehended in New Mexico and extradited to Colorado. Records from the Colorado Department of Corrections indicate that Provine, aged 19, received a four-year sentence for pleading guilty to accessory after the fact.

Hobirk pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, facing a potential 32-year prison term at his upcoming sentencing in January. Griffin, on the other hand, received four years of probation for tampering with evidence.
