A former middle school teacher from Texas was taken into custody on Wednesday following allegations of repeated sexual abuse involving a 13-year-old student.
According to reports from The Laredo Morning Times, an arrest affidavit claims that 27-year-old Adriana Mariel Rullan engaged in "sexual intercourse/sexual contact with the boy on 12 occasions." Jail records from Webb County, reviewed by PEOPLE, indicate Rullan's arrest and subsequent release on bond.
Rullan faces charges related to an improper relationship between an educator and a student, indecency involving sexual contact with a child, and continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 years old.
The affidavit, referenced by The Morning Times, suggests that the boy's parents grew suspicious due to sudden inflows of money into his CashApp account. Upon examining the boy's phone, the stepfather allegedly discovered recurring payments linked to a profile under Rullan’s name, alongside a contact saved in the boy's phone bearing Rullan’s name and symbolized with pink hearts.
Additionally, the affidavit details that the school principal captured images sent by Rullan to the boy, including bikini pictures, shots revealing her breasts, and other compromising sexual images.
KGNS-TV, a local outlet, reports that the United Independent School District acknowledged awareness of an incident involving a former teacher, although the teacher hasn't been identified. The district confirmed the teacher's placement on leave in response to the serious allegations.
