A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Honolulu, Hawaii, as a young mother, Theresa Cachuela, was shot and killed in front of her 11-year-old daughter by her estranged husband, Jason. This devastating event has left the community reeling and Theresa's family seeking solace and justice.
Theresa, a 33-year-old Instagram influencer known for her vibrant personality and religious beliefs, was gunned down at a shopping center while heading to the bank with her daughter. Police reports confirm Jason, 44, approached them and opened fire, taking Theresa's life before fleeing. He was later found dead by suicide.
This tragedy was shrouded in a history of domestic violence. Weeks before the shooting, Theresa had secured a temporary restraining order against Jason due to threats and concerning behavior, including suicidal tendencies and weapon possession. The court later mandated a one-year protection order in which Jason was required to surrender his firearms.
Theresa's family, heartbroken and grappling with the loss of their beloved daughter and sister, started a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses. "My daughter did not deserve this," wrote Theresa's mother, expressing the family's grief and frustration. "She was trying so hard to get help, but the Justice system failed her."
The GoFundMe campaign has garnered over $38,000 in support, demonstrating the outpouring of community compassion for Theresa and her family.
