Is The Ritz Paris Safe? Guest Reports $800,000 Diamond Missing

A luxury stay at the opulent Ritz Paris turned into a nightmare for one guest when her precious diamond ring, valued at over $800,000, vanished from her room.

The Malaysian businesswoman, identified only by her nationality, reported the missing jewel after returning from a shopping spree at the renowned Place Vendôme. Upon returning to her room, she noticed the ring missing from its usual spot on her bedside table.

Without delay, she reported the theft at a nearby police station. Officers accompanied her back to The Ritz Paris to gather evidence and initiate a preliminary investigation. Both local authorities and hotel representatives declined to comment on the incident.

"No stone is being left unturned in our investigation," a police source revealed. "Anything is possible at this stage."

The source further added that depending on the suspected level of involvement by the perpetrator, the case might be escalated to a specialized unit. "If we believe this is the work of a sophisticated criminal, we may involve the banditry suppression brigade," they explained. "The potential loss is significant."

Unfortunately, jewelry thefts are not uncommon in Paris.

Similar incidents occurred at The Ritz Paris in 2018, where a member of the Saudi royal family reported a jewelry theft exceeding $900,000. In 2016, reality star Kim Kardashian was held at gunpoint and robbed of her 20-carat diamond engagement ring during a stay at the nearby No Address Hotel. This latest incident raises questions about the security of luxury hotels and the safety of guests' valuables.
