Jane Wiedlin, Guitarist of the Go-Go's, Accuses Rodney Bingenheimer of Sexual Assault

A shocking accusation has rocked the music world, as Jane Wiedlin, the 65-year-old guitarist of the iconic band the Go-Go's, has come forward with allegations of sexual assault against legendary rock DJ Rodney Bingenheimer.

In a bombshell report published by Rolling Stone, Wiedlin claims that Bingenheimer assaulted her when she was just 15 years old. The incident occurred at Bingenheimer's Los Angeles club, English Disco, where he allegedly cornered her in a back room and forced himself upon her.

The alleged assault left a lasting impact on Wiedlin. While she initially documented the encounter in a 2016 book, she refrained from naming her assailant at the time. It wasn't until the #MeToo movement that she fully realized the gravity of what she had experienced.

Wiedlin is not the only woman to accuse Bingenheimer of misconduct. Three other women have come forward with similar allegations, including Kari Krome, a songwriter for the band the Runaways. Krome filed a lawsuit against Bingenheimer, alleging that he sexually assaulted her when she was a minor.

Bingenheimer, once a prominent figure in the music industry, has been ostracized following these accusations. Known for breaking bands like Blondie, the Ramones, and the Go-Go’s, his legacy is now tainted by these allegations.

While Bingenheimer has denied any wrongdoing, the weight of evidence against him is growing. Wiedlin's courage in coming forward has empowered other victims to share their stories, and it's likely that more women will come forward in the coming days and weeks.

This case highlights the ongoing struggle against sexual abuse in the music industry and the importance of holding powerful figures accountable for their actions. It also serves as a reminder that even the most seemingly innocent encounters can have a devastating impact on victims.
