Mom Charged with Drowning 2-Year-Old in Baffling Spree

A 24-year-old Connecticut mom, Devoni Miller, is behind bars facing a $2 million murder charge after her 2-year-old daughter's tragic drowning in September. The drama began on September 11th with a two-car crash involving Miller, who allegedly told officers, "Just take me to jail" after they arrived. But it gets stranger.

Before the crash, police say Miller had already hit another car and kept driving. Witnesses reported erratic behavior, including throwing things at work and making bizarre statements about death and "the other side." Family members confirmed months of concerning outbursts and an unusual recent interest in religion.

Things took a terrifying turn after the first crash. Miller allegedly confronted a bystander trying to call 911, ran from the scene with her daughter, and later told police the child "ran down" to the Connecticut River. Sadly, little Deroyal was found dead shortly after.

Adding to the mystery, Miller's mother had tried to keep Deroyal away from her just the day before. On the morning of the tragedy, a witness claims Miller spoke cryptically about death before vanishing with her daughter.

What triggered this heartbreaking chain of events? Only investigations and legal proceedings will tell. But one thing's clear: this mom's story raises questions about mental health, child safety, and the warning signs we sometimes miss.
