A 17-year-old Texas driver named Hunter Cameron Villasana is facing serious charges after a late-night accident on Friday. He's accused of driving drunk, crashing into a sleeping homeless woman, and trying to bribe restaurant employees who detained him until police arrived.
The accident happened around 11:30 PM near the intersection of Katy Freeway and Silber Road. Villasana, allegedly driving a black Mercedes, lost control while turning and hit the curb before colliding with the woman sleeping on the median. He then slammed into a wall and tried to run away, but bystanders managed to hold him until police arrived.
Authorities are still trying to identify the victim, who they believe was in her 50s. They're asking anyone with information to come forward.
In court, prosecutors claimed Villasana offered to send money through Venmo to Jack in the Box employees if they let him go. He also allegedly lied about the victim's actions, saying she was walking in the middle of the street.
Villasana's attorney, Doug Murphy, maintains his client's innocence. He described the incident as a "tragic accident" and said Villasana is a "great young kid" who is devastated by the outcome. He urged people to wait for all the facts to come out before forming an opinion.
