Tragedy in Wyoming: Woman Charged After 5-Year-Old Girl Loses Life in Shocking Act of Violence

A 52-year-old woman in Kemmerer, Wyoming, is facing charges for the horrific death of a 5-year-old girl entrusted to her care. Cheri Lynn Marler allegedly admitted to repeatedly hitting the child on the head, leading to fatal injuries.

The incident unfolded on November 25, 2022, when police responded to a call about an unresponsive child. Marler initially claimed the girl fell down the stairs, but inconsistencies in the story and the child's injuries raised red flags.

Medical personnel rushed the victim to the hospital, but sadly, she succumbed to her wounds the following day. Marler was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree murder and child abuse.

Court documents reveal shocking details about the alleged abuse. Marler reportedly confessed to striking the child about ten times "in a clapping motion." The victim's acquaintance also came forward, claiming Marler had previously expressed hatred and violent intentions towards the child.

The brutality of the case left investigators deeply shaken. The child's injuries were described as extensive, with "bruising, cuts, abrasions, and the overall condition."

Marler's defense attempted to suppress her confession and the acquaintance's testimony, but their motions were denied. Her trial is currently scheduled for January 22, 2024.

This tragedy highlights the importance of vigilance and reporting any suspicions of child abuse. It's a heart-wrenching reminder to protect our most vulnerable and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
