A person who claimed to be a "political candidate," seen in photos on Instagram alongside local politicians, faces charges for the alleged murder of his mother. Vladislav Deshkovich, 30, stands accused by New York City police of killing Inna Deshkovich, 52, following a dispute over money.
Law enforcement responded to a 911 call reporting an assault at a residence on 93rd Street in Brooklyn's Bay Ridge neighborhood at 7:33 p.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, they discovered Inna Deshkovich with multiple stab wounds to her neck. Paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene, leading to the arrest of her son the next morning.
According to a neighbor, Anne Sgoupis, the victim's ex-husband informed the police that his son desired to discuss financial matters with his mother. "He wanted money," she recounted.
Vladislav Deshkovich resided in a separate apartment building within Bay Ridge. Neighbors shared varied perspectives on him: one mentioned an odd demeanor, while another described him as intelligent and composed days before the incident.
Despite his self-identification as a "political candidate" on Instagram, Deshkovich's connections with local politicians appeared limited, according to Councilman Ari Kagan, R-Brooklyn. Deshkovich had established a limited liability corporation in June named "Vlad Deshkovich for State Assembly."
Reportedly, Inna Deshkovich sustained numerous stab wounds to her neck, shoulders, and face. Vladislav Deskovich admitted to punching his mother earlier that evening.
The judge ordered Deshkovich to be detained without bail and to receive psychiatric treatment. Witnesses recounted hearing the victim scream before a neighbor discovered her, allegedly confronted by Deshkovich claiming to transport his injured mother to the hospital.
Neighbors mentioned frequent arguments between mother and son, often escalating into loud altercations in what seemed to be Russian.
Scheduled for a hearing on Thursday, Deshkovich faces allegations in the tragic demise of his mother. Inna Deshkovich, described as a doctor in Belarus or Russia attempting to obtain a license in the United States, was remembered fondly by neighbors for her dedication and kindness.
