A 22-year-old Florida mother, Reyanna Icilma Thomas, is facing serious charges after allegedly filming and photographing herself physically and verbally abusing her 2-month-old daughter. The disturbing footage and messages were sent to the baby's father, raising concerns about the child's safety and leading to Thomas' arrest.
It all began on a Saturday evening when the baby's father rushed to a North Miami police officer with his phone. On it, a horrifying video showed Thomas striking the newborn while yelling and cursing. Police reports describe the baby as visibly frightened and scared throughout the ordeal.
The abuse didn't stop there. The video reportedly showed Thomas forcefully pushing the infant and calling her offensive names. A photo sent later depicted the baby lying faceup with a blanket seemingly covering her nose and mouth, potentially restricting her breathing.
Adding to the chilling nature of the incident, Thomas allegedly sent a text message demeaning her ex and daughter. She expressed resentment towards the child and implied leaving the baby alone at home with a pet cat. The message reportedly concluded with a statement saying she was "stuck with this thing until she dies."
Furthermore, police reports document threats towards the baby's father, with Thomas saying she would "punch their baby dead in the face."
Fearing for the baby's immediate safety, officers located Thomas' residence and entered upon receiving consent. They found both mother and child inside, and Thomas was promptly arrested. Medical personnel examined the baby, who thankfully showed no visible injuries.
While Thomas reportedly confessed to police during questioning, details remain incomplete as parts of the interview notes were redacted from public records. She is currently detained without bond, and court proceedings are underway.
The North Miami Police Department is actively investigating this disturbing case.
