A man who is linked to an alleged sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl in Culver City, Calif., got arrested last Thursday, as the police shared in a statement on Friday.
The arrested individual, Marcos Maldonado, aged 35, reportedly entered a Culver City residence within the Blair Hills community during the early hours of Dec. 2.
There, he allegedly sexually assaulted an unidentified young girl, per a statement by the Culver City Police Department.
According to details from KTLA, as per the girl's mother, Maldonado supposedly threatened the girl, warning her of potential harm if she made any noise during the incident.
The police responded to a call at 7:46 a.m. on Dec. 2 and obtained video evidence of the suspect leaving the area.
The CCPD's report mentioned DNA evidence connecting Maldonado to the crime on Thursday. He was apprehended the same day on the I-5 freeway after departing from a Downtown Los Angeles hotel and heading towards Bakersfield.
Facing charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, Maldonado is presently in custody on a $1.25 million bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday, according to NBC News. It remains uncertain if he has legal representation.
