In a chilling incident on Monday, a man reportedly confessed to shooting an aggressive individual at his residence. Instead of contacting the authorities, the 18-year-old, Jackson L. Pierce, and a juvenile companion opted to wrap the victim's body in an air mattress.
Upon the authorities' arrival, Pierce expressed regret, stating, "Dog, I shoulda f—ing called the cops myself." Pierce now faces charges of second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and tampering with evidence, with a $1 million cash-only bond in St. Charles County Jail. The juvenile's case is being handled by St. Charles County Family Court.
The incident came to light when an attorney for Pierce's housemate notified law enforcement. The housemate left the home, leaving Pierce, the victim (Dalton Coleman, 23, of O’Fallon), and the juvenile behind. Pierce, unhappy with the victim's behavior, allegedly called the housemate, describing the situation.
According to Pierce's account, a struggle ensued in a bedroom, leading to the fatal shooting of the victim, whom he claimed forced his way in. Pierce asserted that he shot the man 14 times as they grappled for a firearm. Despite being urged to call the police, Pierce refused, prompting the housemate to contact the authorities.
A subsequent SWAT team search uncovered a tightly wrapped air mattress with the victim inside, surrounded by an electrical cord. The victim had suffered approximately 15 gunshot wounds. Pierce, post-Miranda, confirmed the presence of the deceased in the residence, providing a similar narrative to investigators.
The unsettling story involves a failed attempt to clean the crime scene, with Pierce and the juvenile using towels and dish soap. They eventually moved the victim to another room, concealing the tragedy that unfolded in St. Peters, Missouri.
