Cyndi Lauper's Son Declyn Released on Bail After Harlem Shooting

News broke out recently regarding the arrest and subsequent release of Cyndi Lauper's son, Declyn Lauper, following a shooting incident in Harlem, New York City.

The 26-year-old musician, known as rapper "Dex," found himself entangled in a case that has stirred the waters of both local crime news and true crime discussions.

The events unfolded on a Wednesday night in Harlem.

Reportedly, Declyn and another individual arrived in the area via Uber, both allegedly carrying firearms. Shortly after, a 24-year-old man named Omar Lewin was shot. Both Declyn and Lewin were apprehended and charged with gun possession.

Declyn maintains his innocence and has pleaded not guilty. However, prosecutors allege his intent to use the firearm illegally, making his legal team's fight an uphill battle.

Further complicating matters is Declyn's previous brush with the law in 2022, where he was accused of possessing a stolen car.

The case has garnered significant media attention, largely due to the fame of his mother, Cyndi Lauper. His father, actor David Thornton, was even spotted at court, showing his support. As the legal proceedings continue, expect to see more updates in the local crime news and continued public interest in this unfolding true crime story.
