A mom was given a life sentence for causing the death of her 4-year-old daughter through beatings and strangulation.
Tianna Robinson, aged 28, recently admitted guilt to an aggravated murder charge. She was sentenced to life behind bars, with a chance for parole after 30 years. The tragic incident happened in April 2021, as confirmed by Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers in a social media post.
This news follows almost three years since Tianna was initially charged with aggravated murder, murder, assault, and child endangerment by former Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters.
Tianna's plea deal was confirmed by Powers’ office, potentially sparing her from the death penalty, as reported by CNN.
"Nahla suffered severe injuries, including a broken arm and brain trauma from being shaken," shared the prosecutor on Facebook.
Expressing her grief, Powers stated to PEOPLE, “This was an unimaginable crime. My heart goes out to Nahla for the suffering she endured. Given Ohio's laws, ensuring Tianna remains incarcerated for life is the best outcome we could hope for.”

Deters had previously announced Tianna's indictment for the death penalty, describing how she "beat and strangled her daughter until her heart stopped" at their home in Springfield Township.
Reports from the Cincinnati Enquirer reveal that Tianna attacked Nahla after she wet herself while left unsupervised at home. Tianna's mental health challenges, including major depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, led to multiple competency evaluations and hospitalizations.
Tragically, Nahla passed away after being taken off life support. Investigators believe she suffered abuse for months, with the autopsy showing signs of strangulation and severe internal injuries.
At the time of admission to the hospital, Nahla's weight was significantly below average for her age, indicating malnutrition and neglect.
Tianna initially called the police, claiming Nahla had fainted, but later confessed to hitting and choking her daughter.
Tianna's boyfriend, Rensley Washington, was also implicated in obstructing justice, receiving a prison sentence after admitting guilt. He had falsely claimed Nahla's injuries resulted from a scooter accident.
Deters expressed profound sorrow, emphasizing the cruelty of harming a child, especially by their own parent.
