15-year-old girl Shot Dead During an Attempted Robbery


Kayla Rincon-Miller, a vibrant 15-year-old girl, was tragically shot and killed during a robbery attempt.

On Sunday night, Kayla and her two friends were walking home after a movie night, excited for a McDonald's treat. 

Their innocent stroll took a horrifying turn on Southeast 16th Place. 

A car approached, blinding them with headlights. 

Before they could react, a group of men emerged from the car and tried to rob them. 

In a moment of senseless violence, one of the attackers fired a shot, striking Kayla in the chest.

Her friends immediately called 911.

Responding to the 911 call at 9:39 p.m., officers rushed to the scene. 

Despite their swift arrival and life-saving efforts, Kayla's wounds proved fatal. 

She was transported to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

The Cape Coral Police Chief, Anthony Sizemore, expressed the collective outrage. "A young, vibrant 15-year-old girl was shot dead in the street," he stated, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. 

Kayla's friends and family are devastated. 

Friends like Bailee Powell and Elyse De Jesus shared stories of their adventures together, highlighting the irreplaceable bond they shared.

While authorities haven't released detailed information about the case, the investigation is ongoing. 

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
