Skeleton "Expert" Convicted for Buying Stolen Body Parts in Bizarre Case

A judge in Pennsylvania gave a man named Jeremy Pauley two years of probation instead of jail time. This is connected to a big scandal where dead bodies were stolen and sold illegally. The person in charge of the dead bodies at Harvard Medical School, and other people, were also involved.

Pauley didn't speak in court, but his lawyer said he's an expert on skeletons. Police say Pauley bought body parts from a woman named Candace Chapman Scott, who stole them from a funeral home in Arkansas.

In June 2022, someone reported seeing human body parts being sold online.

Then, in July, another person called the police because they found what might be human remains in their basement, in buckets. The police found buckets containing body parts, including brains, hearts, livers, skin, and lungs.

A prosecutor said this was one of the weirdest cases he'd ever seen. Things got even crazier when federal authorities charged the manager of the morgue at Harvard with stealing and selling body parts. His wife was also involved, and she allegedly sold stolen body parts to someone in Pennsylvania.

Another man, James Nott from Kentucky, is also accused of being involved. He allegedly sent pictures and videos of skulls for sale to Pauley online.
