The Man Who Murdered a 3-Year-Old Boy in Ambush Shootout Accidentally Killed A Suspect

A terrible incident happened in Lakeland, Florida, where a 3-year-old boy tragically lost his life.

Police arrested Kevarius Green, 30, and charged him with two counts of murder, including the death of the 3-year-old boy named Jaquez "JD" Norton.

Jaquez was riding in the back seat of a Toyota RAV4 with his family, including his 3-month-old sister, mom, and a family friend.

As they were leaving their apartment complex, a Dodge Challenger driven by Demarius Wilson (Kevarius Green's alleged accomplice) suddenly blocked their car.

Things escalated quickly.

Green and Demarius' twin brother, Kemarius Wilson, allegedly got out of the Challenger and opened fire on the RAV4 from both sides.

Jaquez, caught in the crossfire, was hit four times, with one shot tragically hitting his head.

The family friend inside the RAV4 bravely returned fire despite being shot in the leg.

However, police believe it was Green's gunfire that ended up killing Kemarius Wilson, not the family friend's.

Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor described the incident as "an ongoing gunbattle."

The loss is especially heartbreaking for Jaquez's family.

His grandmother, Pilar Rivera, told a news reporter, "He was like our little king! We never had a boy before, and when he came along, we were so excited."

Green turned himself in with a lawyer on Tuesday, but the search for Demarius Wilson continues.
