Tragic Shooting at Moscow Concert Hall Leaves Dozens Dead

A horrible event unfolded on Friday night in Moscow, Russia, at the Crocus City Hall concert venue.

According to reports, a shooting broke out during a concert, leaving at least 40 people dead and over 100 injured.

The Russian news agency TASS reported the details based on a statement from the country's security service, FSB.

They stated that initial investigations point to a terrorist attack that resulted in these casualties.

Shockingly, at least two children were among the victims, as reported by the Russian TV channel Rossiya-24.

One child suffered a gunshot wound and is in serious condition, while another was hit with a rifle but is thankfully stable.

Witnesses described a terrifying scene that included explosions alongside the gunfire.

One person who saw the attack unfold told TASS that there were definitely dead and injured people after a loud bang and automatic gunfire erupted in the concert hall.

Adding to the confusion, some concertgoers initially mistook the gunshots for something else.

An eyewitness named Mikhail Semyonov recounted the chaos, saying they heard loud pops but didn't realize it was shooting.

They thought it might be parts of an exhibition falling down due to dismantling work.

But as the popping sounds became more frequent and turned into bursts, followed by a scream, it became horrifyingly clear that it was a shooting.

The concert, which was sold out according to The Wall Street Journal, was scheduled to begin at 8 pm on Friday night.

The venue has a large capacity, holding thousands of concertgoers.

Witnesses reported to RIA Novosti that attackers stormed into the concert hall, started shooting people directly at close range, and threw smoke bombs to create further chaos, as reported by WSJ.

Russian special forces are currently conducting a search operation at the scene. In response to the tragedy, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin has cancelled all large public events in the city throughout the weekend.

The situation is still developing, and more information is expected to emerge.
