Alabama Mom Faces Charges After Allegedly Trying to Drown Son

A terrible story has emerged from Alabama concerning a young boy and his mother  34-year-old Ashley Elizabeth Jones.

She is facing serious charges of aggravated child abuse.

The ordeal reportedly went on for over a week before the brave 10-year-old boy confided in his father, who shares joint custody.

According to authorities, things got out of hand when the child expressed a desire to live full-time with his dad.

Jones is alleged to have reacted by dousing her son with bleach!

The affidavit details that the boy then went to wash the bleach off, only to be followed into the bathroom by his mother.

She is then accused of a horrifying act - forcing his head underwater for nearly a minute!

Fearing for his life, the young boy cleverly pretended to be dead, according to investigators.

This tactic reportedly allowed him to escape the immediate danger.

However, the nightmare wasn't over.

The affidavit alleges Jones then locked him in a closet for several hours!

Thankfully, the abuse came to an end when the boy managed to contact his father.

Upon hearing his son's frantic and distressed voice, the father rushed to pick him up.

The boy, understandably shaken, reportedly ran out of the house with only his Xbox and some clothes.

The father, understandably concerned about his son's well-being and the details he revealed, contacted the authorities.

Law enforcement officials promptly questioned Jones, who maintains her innocence.

As of now, it's unclear if custody arrangements have changed.

These proceedings are typically confidential.

Jones was released on bail after her arrest and awaits her initial court appearance in May.
