A California woman, Ashley Bird, was tragically shot and killed on April 16th while participating in a video work call.
The heartbreaking incident unfolded in Spring Valley, leaving a young son motherless.
According to authorities, Ashley, 35, was targeted by her estranged husband, Christopher Bird, 39.
Deputies responded to a reported break-in at Ashley's residence around 10:24 am.
Upon entering, they found Ashley with a head injury.
Sadly, despite immediate medical attention, she passed away at the scene.
Details surrounding the incident are still emerging.
Ashley's sister, Allison Saefong, revealed that Ashley mentioned someone trying to break in during her work call.

After Ashley abruptly left the video conference, a concerned coworker contacted Ashley's mother, who subsequently alerted the police.
"My mom called me just before 11 o'clock, hysterical," Saefong recounted. "She kept saying, 'She's gone. She's gone.'"
The investigation led authorities to locate Christopher deceased inside his vehicle at a nearby park.
The cause and manner of his death are pending an autopsy by the Orange County Coroner's Office.
Officials confirmed there are no other suspects and no threat to the community.
However, the motive and specific circumstances surrounding the crime remain under investigation.
Saefong expressed her belief that the ongoing divorce and child custody battle might have been contributing factors.
A GoFundMe page has been established to honor Ashley, described as a "warm-hearted, generous soul."
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department urges anyone with information to come forward.
