New York Man Accused of Gruesome Murder of Roommate: Roommate Dismembered and Stored in Fridge

A man in New York is said to have attacked his roommate with a hammer and a knife, reportedly over drugs.

The accused, Nicholas McGee, allegedly killed his roommate, Kawsheen Gelzer, in a shocking manner.

According to prosecutors, McGee then dismembered Gelzer's body and stored the remains in his refrigerator and freezer.

Nicholas McGee, aged 45, is facing serious charges including murder, robbery, and tampering with physical evidence.

The incident, which occurred in March 2022, left the victim dead in their apartment in Flatbush.

The gruesome murder allegedly started with an attack on Gelzer while he was asleep on the couch.

McGee is accused of stabbing Gelzer multiple times and hitting him with a hammer during the struggle.

After the brutal attack, McGee is said to have taken drugs from Gelzer's pocket and proceeded to dismember his body using tools like a small saw and a hammer.

The remains were then placed in plastic bags, a suitcase, and the refrigerator and freezer. Authorities noted that the refrigerator was taped up, possibly to contain the odor.

The case was brought to light when police received an anonymous tip about a body in Heather Stines' refrigerator, McGee's wife.

Stines, aged 45, faces charges related to hindering prosecution, concealing a human corpse, and tampering with physical evidence.

McGee was apprehended in Chesapeake, Virginia, where he was already in custody for an unrelated identity fraud case.

He allegedly confessed to the murder during questioning in Virginia.

McGee has a history of arrests in various states, indicating a pattern of criminal behavior.

The victim, Gelzer, had a troubled past, being a registered sex offender convicted of abusing a minor in 2004.

Despite his criminal history, those who knew him described him as a drug dealer who frequently stayed at different locations.

The incident has shocked the community, with Stines' brother-in-law expressing disbelief at her involvement.

The investigation is ongoing, with McGee expected to appear in court soon.
