A Killeen jury found Raymond Antonio Rivera, 39, guilty of murdering his girlfriend, Nilsa Maria Arce, 50, on Wednesday.
The tragic incident took place on June 25th, 2020, at the Henderson Garden Apartments.
The case began with concerns about Rivera's mental competency.
However, after those were addressed, the trial proceeded.
Witness testimonies revealed a horrific scene.
According to the Killeen Daily Herald, eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud argument followed by Arce's scream and a thud.
The details get even more disturbing.
One witness, Roxanne Rodriguez, stated that she saw Rivera throw Arce from the balcony and then hurl a heavy orange recliner onto her face.
Rodriguez testified that Arce was still breathing before the recliner landed, but she stopped breathing after he recliner landed.
Another witness, a U.S. Army veteran and friend of Rodriguez, described rushing to Arce's aid.
He removed the recliner and other objects to attempt first aid, but sadly, Arce did not respond.
The incident didn't end there.

Rivera reportedly attempted to escape the scene but was apprehended by the Army veteran and other bystanders who chased him down until police arrived.
Arce, tragically, succumbed to her injuries two days later at the hospital.
She leaves behind an adult daughter.
Rivera is scheduled for sentencing on May 30th before Judge John Gauntt.
The court has allocated two hours for the hearing.
