The search for a missing woman from Alexander City has ended tragically, with authorities in Tallapoosa County recovering her body.
Investigators had been looking for Quanisha Davis, 30, since she was reported missing on May 16.
Her white Ford Explorer was also unaccounted for.
A significant development in the case occurred nearly two weeks later.
On Wednesday evening, Davis' vehicle was found in a wooded area off North Loop Road in Dadeville.
Despite this discovery, Davis was still considered missing, and the search continued.
The search concluded around 7:45 a.m. on Thursday when Davis' body was found in a wooded area off Herren Street in Dadeville.
Sheriff Jimmy Abbott noted that this location was approximately 3 to 5 miles from where her vehicle was discovered.
The cause of Davis' death will be determined through an autopsy performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
Around 11 a.m. on Thursday, a "person of interest" was taken into custody.
During a news conference that afternoon, Sheriff Abbott announced that Robert Lee Young, 55, of Dadeville, was charged with murder.
He confirmed that Young and Davis were in a "dating relationship."
Young will face a bond hearing, and additional charges may be brought against him.
This investigation is a collaborative effort involving the Alexander City Police Department, Dadeville Police Department, Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department, and the State Bureau of Investigation.
