Arrests Made in the Death of 12-Year-Old Jocelyn Nungaray in Houston

Two men have been arrested in connection with the tragic murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in Houston, Texas.

The suspects, Johan Jose Rangel Martinez (21) and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos (26), are facing capital murder charges.

The arrests followed the discovery of Jocelyn's body in a creek earlier this week.

The Houston Police Department, working tirelessly, managed to track the suspects through surveillance footage, leading to their capture on Thursday.

On Thursday morning, police arrived at the suspects' apartment complex around 4 a.m. and used a loudspeaker to order them to come out.

When the suspects failed to comply, officers approached the second-floor apartment with weapons drawn.

One of the suspects attempted to escape by jumping off the balcony but was quickly apprehended by the surrounding officers.

The investigation revealed that Jocelyn had sneaked out of her nearby home the night before her body was discovered.

Surveillance footage captured the men meeting up with Jocelyn and walking to a convenience store together before heading to the bridge where she was murdered.

Forensic investigators have collected numerous boxes of evidence from the suspects' apartment to aid in the ongoing investigation.

Neighbors reported that Martinez and Ramos frequently sat on their balcony, yelling at women who passed by.

Acting Houston Police Chief Larry Satterwhite commended the relentless efforts of his team, emphasizing their dedication to bringing justice for Jocelyn and her family.

"Their hard work paid off. We were able to find video and trace the movements of the suspects and Jocelyn, all the way to the bayou where she was murdered," Satterwhite stated.
