Rex Heuermann, Suspect in Gilgo Beach Serial Killings, Faces Two Additional Murder Charges, Making it 6 Counts in total

Rex Heuermann, a suspect linked to the Long Island Serial Killer case, now faces additional charges for two more murders, one of which dates back to 1993.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office made this announcement recently.

They revealed that a grand jury indicted Rex Heuermann, an architect from Massapequa Park, N.Y., for the deaths of Sandra Costilla in 1993 and Jessica Taylor in 2003.

This indictment adds to the existing charges against Heuermann, who is already accused of the murders of Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Costello, and Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

These four women, all online escorts, disappeared between 2007 and 2010.

Their remains were discovered in 2010 on Gilgo Beach in Long Island.

The partial remains of Jessica Taylor were found in 2003, with further remains discovered in 2011.

According to the indictment, her body was mutilated, and a tattoo on her torso had been damaged.

Jessica's mother, Elizabeth Baczkiel, remembered her daughter fondly as a compassionate and humorous person who loved music and working with children.

Sandra Costilla's remains were discovered in 1993, bearing multiple injuries.

The indictment also mentioned a planning document found by investigators, allegedly detailing Heuermann's plans for the crimes, including lists of supplies and strategies.

Bob Macedonio, attorney for Heuermann's wife, Asa Ellerup, disclosed that law enforcement officials had conducted a thorough search of Heuermann’s residence, focusing particularly on the basement.

Heuermann was apprehended in 2023, and evidence linking him to the murders includes DNA found on the victims and connections to a vehicle registered in his name.

Authorities also uncovered disturbing internet search history allegedly related to Heuermann, including inquiries about the Long Island Serial Killer case and disturbing topics like rape and torture.
