A shocking and tragic incident unfolded in Indianapolis when a 17-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly murdering his father.
David Perry faces charges of murder and illegal firearm possession after authorities claim he killed his 35-year-old father, Brandon Perry, stuffed his body in a trash can, and discarded it into a river.
Despite extensive efforts, Brandon Perry's body has not been found yet.
The investigation began on May 29 when Brandon's sister reported him missing, leading the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's Missing Persons Unit to launch a search.
However, the case quickly turned from a search operation to a suspected murder investigation based on new evidence.
The Homicide Detectives took over, citing video footage, physical evidence, and several interviews that pointed to David Perry as the perpetrator.
Authorities are collaborating with multiple law enforcement agencies to locate Brandon Perry’s body.
Court documents reviewed by WXIN, a local Fox affiliate, revealed more details about the case.
Surveillance footage, witness interviews, cellphone location records, and DNA evidence all directed suspicion towards David Perry.
On May 26, David Perry was the last person to see his father alive but did not report him missing.
Text messages obtained by investigators showed David implicating himself in the crime.
In one message, David said, “It popped off,” and when asked what he meant, he replied that he couldn’t explain over text and would discuss it in person.
The recipient of these messages later told investigators that David had an altercation with his father and couldn’t return home.
Brandon Perry’s sister discovered a large bloodstain on his mattress and reported him missing.
She also relayed that David had told her “their dad is in the White River and that he was in a trash can,”
On May 27, surveillance footage allegedly captured David purchasing a dolly, vacuum, and seat covers from a store.
His cellphone data later placed him near the White River, close to where his father’s truck was found abandoned.
