Houston Police Connect Dots in Woman's Death and Disappearance

A man from Texas, Quan Flowers, aged 39, was arrested on May 31st, concerning the tragic death of Megan Rouse, a 24-year-old woman whose body was discovered on a road in Houston on May 3rd.

The authorities in Houston announced this arrest on Monday, revealing that a Houston Police Department officer stumbled upon Rouse's body while responding to an unrelated call.

Sadly, Rouse had sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

After a thorough investigation, law enforcement connected Flowers to the crime by reviewing surveillance footage and matching ballistic evidence from two other shootings believed to be linked to Rouse's murder.

These shootings occurred on March 29th and April 4th, sharing similarities in location and the level of violence involved, as detailed in a criminal complaint examined by PEOPLE.

An anonymous tip-off led authorities to Flowers, who was initially identified by the nickname "Country."

His listed address was found to be just a short distance from where Rouse's body was discovered.

Further complicating matters, during the investigation, it was revealed that Flowers is also a person of interest in the case of Kalie Goodwin, a 29-year-old woman who went missing in Baytown, Texas.

Goodwin's mother reported her disappearance on April 23rd after receiving a disturbing ransom call demanding $600.

In the call, she heard her daughter being assaulted in the background, adding to the anguish of the situation.

Shockingly, the ransom payment was made to a CashApp account, allegedly belonging to Flowers' girlfriend.

Flowers claimed he had picked up Goodwin on April 21st under the instructions of an unidentified male.

He stated that Goodwin was unharmed when he last saw her, though the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain deeply concerning.

Meanwhile, Megan Rouse is fondly remembered for her kindness and compassion, described as someone who touched the lives of everyone she encountered.

Her obituary paints a picture of a free-spirited individual who brought joy wherever she went.

As the legal proceedings unfold, Flowers remains in custody with a bond set at $450,000.

However, it's unclear whether he has entered a plea at this time, as online court records do not provide that information.

Despite several efforts, an attorney listed in court records was not immediately reachable for comment.
