The perplexing Case Of Micheal Lee Laflex: He Murdered His Daughter’s Boyfriend Who Was Allegedly Abusing Her

On October 28th, at around 5:30 PM, Cordelia LaFlex walked into the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office.

She was there to make a troubling report: her boyfriend, Bryce Brogle, was missing. 

The concern grew deeper when Cordelia made a startling revelation. 

She said she believed her own father, Michael LaFlex, might be responsible for Brogle's disappearance.

This revelation marked the beginning of a perplexing case filled with twisted relationships, disturbing suspicions, and a desperate search for truth.

Cordelia explained that just hours before, Michael and Bryce had gone to a storage complex to drop off some of Bryce's belongings.

When Cordelia later texted Bryce, she received no response. 

Two hours after leaving, Michael returned home alone.

He claimed that some men in an unmarked vehicle had taken Bryce at the storage complex.

According to Michael, these men were undercover agents, but he had not been shown any badges. 

Alarmed by this information, Cordelia reported it to the sheriff's office.

When officers checked their arrest records, they found no trace of Bryce.

Michael's suspicious behavior and inconsistent story quickly made him the prime suspect in Bryce's disappearance. 

On the same night of Cordelia's report, officers decided to take Michael back to the storage complex to piece together what had happened. 

His account of events was riddled with odd details and evasive answers, leaving more questions than answers.

In the body cam footage captured by the officers, Michael's demeanor is tense and uneasy. 

He nervously explains how the unmarked vehicle supposedly pulled up and took Bryce away. 

The officer’s questions exposed a shaky story, with Michael frequently stumbling over his words, repeating himself, and focusing on unrelated details.

When they asked him about the men who supposedly took Bryce, his story became unclear. 

He gave vague descriptions of their car and the situation surrounding Bryce’s disappearance.

Investigation Revelations: What Really Happened?

As the investigation progressed, Michael’s story started to fall apart.

He talked about his strained relationship with Bryce, saying they didn't get along well.

Michael said this was because he believed that Bryce was verbally and physically abusing his daughter Cordelia.

He made it clear that he didn’t care much for Bryce, which only deepened the officers' suspicions. 

LaFlex’s daughter was seen by their landlord with two black eyes, and this physical evidence of abuse likely increased LaFlex’s hatred towards Bryce.

Michael's account of the day Bryce disappeared was filled with contradictions and odd statements. 

When the officers questioned Michael about Bryce’s phone, they noticed he became evasive on the topic.

Michael denied knowing anything about the phone’s whereabouts.

However, investigators soon discovered that he had thrown Bryce's phones in the trash just hours before his interview with the police. 

This act further incriminated Michael, suggesting he was hiding something significant.

The investigation later revealed that Bryce Brogle was killed by Michael Laflex, who shot him once in the back of the head. 

The murder happened in the storage unit rented by Michael.

After the shooting, Michael attempted to clean the scene with bleach and later moved Bryce's body using a sled. 

Bryce's body was eventually found buried in a grave on public land.

An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators also found out that Michael told his daughter's landlord he was going to kill Bryce after hearing about the black eye.

Justice & Conviction

The weight of the evidence against Michael LaFlex continued to build as investigators pieced together the timeline of events. 

His inconsistent stories, suspicious behavior, and the discovery of Bryce’s discarded phones painted a damning picture. 

As officers questioned him more closely, it became clear that Michael was lying and unwilling to admit his involvement in Bryce’s disappearance.

The lies, the cover-ups, and the growing mountain of evidence led to Michael’s arrest.

He was subsequently charged with the murder of Bryce Brogle 

During the trial, the prosecution presented the disturbing sequence of events that pointed to Michael's guilt.

The tense relationship between Michael and Bryce, along with the strange events on the day of Bryce’s disappearance, made a strong case for the jury.

Michael Lee Laflex was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the first-degree murder of his daughter's boyfriend, Bryce Brogle. 

The sentence was handed down after Michael Laflex was found guilty of both first and second-degree murder in April 2024. 

In addition to his life sentence, Michael Laflex was ordered to pay restitution and court fees totaling $14,596.08

In the end, Michael LaFlex was convicted for his role in Bryce Brogdel's disappearance.
