Six months after her mysterious disappearance, the skeletal remains of a woman were found in a remote wooded area in Missouri.

Authorities have identified the remains as 34-year-old Emily Strite, a mother of four, using medical and dental records.

A homeowner on Frissell Road discovered her remains on September 28, 2024.

While Strite’s identity has been confirmed, the cause of her death remains undetermined.

The investigation into her disappearance and death is still ongoing.

This uncertainty has left her family and friends desperate for answers.

“We pray now that we get answers and whoever hurt her is brought to justice,” said Amanda Bauman, Strite’s childhood friend.

“She literally lit up a room every chance that she got,” Amanda added.

Friends said that Strite had been in and out of an abusive relationship with the father of her youngest child.

She was last seen on April 12, 2024.

She was seen leaving a friend’s house on foot in the De Soto area, where she had been staying.

Her mother reported her missing eight days later when nobody heard from her.

Charlyn McClain, Strite’s mother, recalled their last conversation on the morning of April 12, 2024.

Emily Strite had told her she planned to visit her three children in Illinois, who lived with their father.

A week later, panic set in when the children’s father called McClain.

He told her that he had not heard from Emily Strite in over a week and was unaware of her plans to visit.

"He had never called me before to ask about Emily," McClain told NBC News.

"That’s why I panicked when he called—it was so unusual," she added.

McClain filed a missing person’s report the next day.

Despite the discovery of her remains, police have found no evidence of foul play or a crime.

Additionally, there are no suspects or persons of interest in Emily Strite’s disappearance or death at the moment.

“It shouldn’t have happened,” Bauman said. “She didn’t deserve to just disappear like that.”
