The Tragic Murder of Rahim Grant: He Was Fatally Shot by his Ex-girlfriend On Video In Front Of His Daughter
It was a crime that shocked Georgia and left a young girl without both her parents.
On December 29, 2017, Rahim Grant, an Atlanta-based rapper, was brutally shot and killed by his ex-girlfriend, Ciera Harp.
According to law enforcement in Georgia, Rahim recorded the entire ordeal on his phone as it unfolded.
The Lives of Ciera Harp and Rahim Grant
Rahim Grant was born in Fayetteville, Georgia, in 1989.
He was a talented musician who began performing at just three years old.
By his 20s, he had established himself as a rapper, producer, and recording engineer.
"He started doing the drums and then he went from there on the microphone. He was on 'Showtime at the Apollo' at age 7,"his mother, Geraldine Grant Bryson, said on the international TV show Snapped.
Rahim was also a devoted father to his daughter, Angel, born in 2014.
Ciera Harp, born the same year as Rahim, had a troubled upbringing marked by emotional and physical abuse.
According to her uncle, Ted Thurmond, her childhood environment was toxic, forcing her to grow up amidst constant turmoil.
This background shaped her combative and volatile behavior.
“She always kept a knife on her. A little pocket knife. She told me that she had gotten kicked out of school for stabbing somebody over a boy,” her ex-boyfriend Dee Smith told Snapped.
The pair met in 2013 when Ciera, a fan of Rahim’s music, approached him for an autograph and a job.
Rahim hired her to promote his shows, and their professional relationship quickly turned personal.
Within months, they were romantically involved, and in November 2014, Ciera gave birth to their daughter, Angel.
Despite separating, Rahim remained a dedicated father.
Tragically, Ciera’s behavior became erratic and controlling after their breakup, according to Atlanta law enforcement.

The Night of the Incident: A Tragic End to a Troubled Relationship
On December 29, 2017, police responded to a 911 call from Ciera’s neighbor.
She reported that Ciera had arrived at her home bleeding profusely with her young daughter in tow.
She claimed Rahim had attacked her.
When police reached Grant’s home, they found him dead, with multiple gunshot wounds, including two in his back and one in his head.
A bloody knife and Grant’s cell phone were recovered at the scene.
Initially, investigators leaned towards self-defense, given Harp’s injuries and her claim of abuse.
However, crime scene investigations and inconsistencies in Harp’s story raised doubts.
She alleged Grant had stabbed her and she fired in self-defense.
Yet, autopsy findings and later evidence suggested a much darker reality..

The Shocking Discovery: Video Evidence
Initially, criminal investigators suspected a domestic dispute gone wrong.
But Rahim’s mother urged authorities to examine his phone.
She had advised him to always record their altercations whenever Cierra started acting aggressively.
Thankfully, when investigators searched Rahim's phone, they found damning evidence.
The phone contained a series of video clips that Rahim had recorded during his final moments.
In these heart-wrenching videos, Rahim—already wounded—described the attack and named Ciera Harp as his assailant.
The footage also captured Harp’s rage.
She could be heard berating Rahim and, ultimately, shooting him multiple times.
The recordings painted a horrifying picture of the events leading up to his death and contradicted Harp’s claims of self-defense.
In February 2018, Harp was arrested and charged with malice murder, aggravated assault, and gun possession during a crime.

Ciera Harp’s Trial and Sentencing
Ciera Harp’s trial began in May 2019, and the courtroom was filled with emotional testimonies and damning evidence.
The video recordings played during the trial were described as “unforgettable” by prosecutor John Fowler, a top lawyer in Atlanta.
Rahim’s family watched in agony as the footage revealed his desperate pleas for help before Harp delivered the fatal shots.
Ciera Harp’s mother, who had supported Rahim throughout his relationship with her daughter, provided a powerful testimony.
She described Harp as manipulative and dangerous, urging the court to impose the maximum sentence.
Despite Harp’s tearful apology during the sentencing phase, an Atlanta jury found her guilty of malice murder and other charges.
She was sentenced to 125 years in prison, ensuring she would spend the rest of her life behind bars.
Rahim Grant’s death left a deep void in the lives of his loved ones.
His mother, Geraldine Grant, now cares for his daughter, Angel.
She describes Angel as a bright reminder of her son’s legacy, even as she faces the challenges of raising her granddaughter without her parents.
As for Harp, her obsession and actions not only cost Rahim his life but also left her daughter without both parents—a consequence of choices driven by anger and obsession.
