Taji Hillson: Nevada Teacher Admits to Drugging, Assaulting Dozens of Children, Police Say

Warning: Sensitive Content

In a disturbing true crime case out of Reno, Nevada, a former elementary school teacher confessed to a series of horrific crimes against children.

Taji Hillson, 62, was arrested on July 2, 2025, and she now faces serious charges, including sexual assault against a child under 14 and lewdness with a child.

The criminal investigation into her crimes started on April 30, 2025, when a woman filed a report with Reno police.

She claimed that Taji Hillson, who was a family member, had sexually assaulted her "throughout her childhood and adulthood."

The victim said that she would often wake up feeling strange, with Hillson hovering over her.

This brave act of coming forward was the first and most important step in stopping and catching a predator.

“I commend the extraordinary courage of the adult victim who came forward to report this abuse; a brave act that has allowed us to seek justice and protect others from harm,” said Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks.

During the investigation, detectives uncovered overwhelming evidence which suppported the allegations.

The victim provided police with text messages where Hillson admitted to "drugging her and touching her inappropriately."

She also gave the police a handwritten apology letter Hillson left in her mailbox.

On June 25, 2025, Hillson voluntarily sat down for a police interview, where she made a chilling and disturbing confession.

According to New York Post, she said she secretly put sedatives into the victim's food to make her weak before the assault.

“The defendant admitted to giving her (the victim) Benadryl to sedate her by sneaking it in her food and then touching the victim’s breast and vagina under the clothes while she slept,” the police report said.

In the apology letter she gave to the victim, she reportedly detailed how she would give two to three times the recommended dose of sleep aids to control the victim because she “needed” to.

“The defendant described doing this throughout the victim’s childhood but more frequently from age 6-12 as her husband worked night shifts at that time,” said the report.

This abuse reportedly started when the victim was a child and continued into their adult life, even after she returned from college in 2014.

Hillson blamed her actions on a deep loneliness, saying “she never felt seen and desired to be close to another person.”

The most horrifying part of Hillson’s confession was that her crimes didn't stop with one victim.

Hillson told police she had inappropriately touched at least a dozen other children, who were mainly family members.

According to KoloTV News, she also admitted to sexually assaulting a 2-year-old neighbor.

She confessed to "grabbing the boy’s pen!s while he floated in a raft" at a local community pool.

After the interview, her confession, along with text messages and the apology letter became crucial evidence for detectives.

On July 2, 2025, Hillson was arrested, and her bail was set at $5 million.

Hillson was employed as a substitute PE teacher at Roy Gomm Elementary School from 2022 to June 2025.

The Reno Police Department has been very clear that there is no evidence any of the abuses involved students at the school.

According to police reports, the victims were people she knew outside of her teaching role.

However, the fact that someone trusted with the care of children is accused of such deeply disturbing acts has shaken parents and the community to its core.

Taji Hillson currently faces charges in two specific cases, but more may expected as the investigation continues.
