Police in Bakersfield, California, have arrested 49-year-old Alfred Juarez Jr..for allegedly killing his 71-year-old father, Alfred Juarez Sr.
According to court records, Juarez Jr. faces multiple charges, including murder, cruelty to an elderly person with great bodily harm, robbery, and carjacking.
He is currently being held at the Kern County Jail without bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for October 27, 2025.
Law&Crime reported that on October 13, 2025, Bakersfield police responded to a home on Chandler Way around 6:30 p.m., after receiving a report about an unresponsive man.
When officers arrived, they found Alfred Juarez Sr. showing clear signs of assault, and despite attempts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators later arrested his son, Alfred Juarez Jr., in Los Angeles County after reviewing surveillance footage that allegedly captured the violent encounter.
The footage reportedly showed Juarez Sr. walking out of his home with his son following behind.
Moments later, Juarez Jr. was seen forcefully pushing the screen door open and punching his father in the head.
Juarez Jr. then spun his father around and snatched his car keys from his belt, while the elderly man clutched his chest and fell to the ground. Juarez Jr. then allegedly took off in his father’s vehicle, leaving him behind.
During an interview with detectives, Juarez Jr. reportedly confessed that his father owed him $5,000. He told police he drove to his father’s home intending to take his vehicle as repayment for the debt.
When his father refused and told him to leave, Juarez Jr. admitted that he became enraged. “I went inside to finish the job,” he told detectives during his interview.
He also acknowledged knowing that his father had a history of heart attacks and was in poor health—but allegedly showed no remorse for his actions.
One officer who spoke with the media said Juarez Jr. was “completely calm” as he detailed what happened.
Authorities also revealed that this was not the first violent encounter between the pair.
Back in 2020, Juarez Jr. was reportedly involved in an assault that caused his father to suffer a heart attack. According to police records, Juarez Jr. allegedly made similar comments after that incident, claiming that his father’s health problems were not his concern.
As of now, Juarez Jr. remains in custody without bail as he awaits his next court hearing.
