Devon Blair: Columbus Man Sentenced After Admitting to Killing His Pregnant Girlfriend

A Columbus man will spend decades behind bars after he strangled his pregnant girlfriend in 2024, killing both her and their unborn son. 

The sentencing took place on July 21, 2025., marking the end of a heartbreaking case that shook the Parkwick Drive community.

Before his sentencing, 24-year-old Devon Blair pleaded guilty to:

One count of strangulation
Two counts of involuntary manslaughter
Two counts of felonious assault

A judge sentenced then him to 46 to 51.5 years in prison, plus two extra years for a previous domestic violence case where he spit on Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies.





According to official records, the attack happened early on the morning of June 16, 2024 inside a home on the 4600 block of Parkwick Drive.

A woman texted 911 to report that Blair was assaulting 19-year-old Brooke Devinney, who was about 14 weeks pregnant with a son she planned to name Aiden.

When officers arrived, they found Brooke unresponsive and badly injured, so she was rushed to the hospital but sadly, she died at 8:45 a.m.

Baby Aiden was pronounced dead only minutes later.

Brooke’s brother and sister-in-law were inside the house during the incident. According to them, Blair and Brooke were arguing inside her bedroom when it grew louder and heated.

Suddenly, everything went quiet, and Blair began pacing around the house, before hr then he left through the garage.

One family member later said, “They had been arguing for almost an hour, and then the house went silent.”

When police arrived, Blair ran from the scene, but he was caught about five hours later.

When he was arrested, detectives noticed scratches on his body, blood on his clothes and to make things worse, refused to cooperate during questioning


 

Bodycam footage above which was shared by Law & Crime showed officers struggling with Blair during his arrest. He even refused to walk, so he had to be carried on a stretcher.

This case was especially troubling because Blair already had a previous assault case involving Brooke, as per Law&Crime. He was awaiting sentencing at the time and had been warned to stay away from her.

Despite that warning, he returned — and this time, the outcome was deadly.

Brooke Devinney’s death not only ended her young life but robbed her family of welcoming baby Aiden, the child she was excited to bring into the world.

Her loved ones continue to mourn a daughter, sister, and expectant mother whose life was taken far too soon.

He had been held in Franklin County Jail after his arrest since July 2024, without bond.

With Blair now sentenced to more than five decades in prison, Brooke’s family hopes her story brings more attention to protecting victims before it’s too late.
