In December of 2018, a man’s trip to visit a family in Tarpon Springs, Florida, ended in a premeditated violent act that took the lives of three people.
Shelby Nealy killed Richard Ivancic, Laura Ivancic, and Nicholas Ivancic over a two-day period while staying at their home.
The victims were family members of Nealy's wife at the time, and the killings occurred nearly one year after Nealy had already murdered his wife, and buried her body in Pasco County.

According to police reports, Nealy killed his wife Jaime Ivancic in Pasco County sometime in early 2018.
He strangled and beat her before burying her remains, and for almost a year, Nealy lied about her whereabouts while her body remained hidden.
However, when her family started suspecting foul play, he traveled to Tarpon Springs, and his goal was to stop Richard, Laura, and Nicholas from exposing what he had done to Jaime.
During his stay at the house, Nealy used a hammer as his weapon, and he attacked Richard Ivancic, Laura Ivancic, and Nicholas Ivancic separately over a 48-hour period.
The three victims were found deceased inside their own home after family members grew concerned and requested a welfare check.
Rhe chilling discovery led to a homicide investigation that eventually connected the Tarpon Springs murders to the earlier disappearance of Jaime Ivancic.
After the investigation revealed the motive behind these three murders, Nealy was arrested and he faced charges for both cases.
Shelby Nealy later pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Richard Ivancic, Laura Ivancic, and Nicholas Ivancic.
After A jury heard the overwhelming evidence against Nealy, they returned with an 11-1 vote recommending the death penalty for each charge.
On April 10, 2026, the judge ultimately imposed three death sentences on Nealy, one for each victim.
Nealy had previously received a 30-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of his wife, Jaime Ivancic.
When given the opportunity to speak at the sentencing hearing, Nealy offered no words and showed no visible reaction to the outcome.
The court also heard from Karma Stewart, Jaime Ivancic's biological sister, who appeared through video conference.
"The day that she was taken shattered everybody's world," Stewart said. "She should still be here today experiencing her amazing children and making memories with them. She was a very beautiful, kind and strong mom who should be here raising them."
Rich Ivancic, the oldest son of the family and the one who made the call that led authorities to the scene, spoke about his parents after the legal proceedings concluded.
He described them as kind individuals who had taken in children from difficult circumstances. "They were really kind people that they adopted these kids when they had nothing. At a young age. They came from drug-addicted family members. So, they gave them everything that we never had growing up," Rich Ivancic said.
Attorneys for Nealy have already filed a motion seeking a new trial, while Nealy has been transferred to the custody of the Florida Department of Corrections.
According to Fox13 News, case will now undergo the mandatory review process by the Florida Supreme Court.
"Finally, justice has been served. This coward's gonna get what he deserved. Justice was served. I think the judge made a great ruling. Family will have some closure finally," Rich Ivancic told reporters
