Molly Elisabeth Duncan: Nanny Handed Four Life Terms for Raping Toddler, Plus 70 Years For Sharing Videos of The Crime

On July 24, 2026, Judge Laurie J. Pittman sentenced 26-year-old Molly Elisabeth Duncan to four consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole for repeatedly raping a Kent toddler who had been left in her care.
“I think walking into this room you knew you were never getting out of prison.” the judge told the Beachwood woman at her sentencing.
Two days before this sentencing in Ravenna, Duncan had already appeared before a federal judge in Cleveland, where she was sent to prison for 70 years.
That sentence was for producing and sharing graphic videos of the sexual abuse of that same Kent girl and another toddler from Chardon, both of whom were younger than 2 years old when the crimes happened.
Together, the two sentencings guarantee that Duncan will most likely die behind bars, a reality her own attorney acknowledged while asking the state judge for leniency.
“Honestly, she’s going to spend the rest of her life in prison, no matter how we slice and dice it,” defense lawyer R.J. Budway told the court

The criminal investigation against Molly Duncan started with a tip from the social media platform Snapchat in late March 2025. The company alerted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a user with the handle “molly0303” had sent 15 files showing child sexual abuse to another account.
The National Center quickly contacted the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and after extensive investigation, detectives traced the digital trail to Duncan’s home in Beachwood.
When they searched the residence, they took phones, computers, and external drives, while a forensic exam of those devices uncovered child sexual abuse material of both victims, which was shot by Duncan on her own phone.
According to official records, she had worked as their nanny from about November 2023 through July 2024, while she had been employed as a nanny across northern Ohio for roughly a decade.
The arrest affidavit described what appeared in two of the videos in disturbing detail. One ten-second clip showed a toddler lying on a carpet while a hand held a pink electric toothbrush against the child’s genitals.
The little girl could be heard whimpering, while a second nine-second video depicted a blonde adult woman performing oral sex on a toddler on a changing table, as we previously reported here.
During an interrogation after her arrest, Duncan admitted she created those files and sent them through Snapchat to other users who, according to the court record, also had a sexual interest in children.
She acknowledged the victims were two different families’ daughters — one she watched in Kent, the other in Chardon.
In April 2026, Molly Duncan pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of children, one count of distributing visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and one count of possessing child sexual abuse material, for sharing the disturbing videos.
U.S. District Judge Pamela A. Barker imposed the 70-year term on July 22, 2026, and she ordered Duncan to pay $20,000 toward the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act and $8,000 toward the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Assistance Act.
Once released, she would face 25 years of supervised release — though the time behind bars makes that point largely symbolic.
In Portage County, Duncan pleaded guilty in June 2026 to four counts of first-degree felony rape, each tied to the actual sex crime on the Kent toddler.
At the July 24 hearing, Portage County Common Pleas Judge Laurie J. Pittman gave Molly Duncan four life sentences without parole, and on top of that, she added an additional 24 to 36 years and a further 18 months — all running consecutively.
Pittman also ordered that the state sentence be served consecutive to the federal prison term. However, Duncan’s lawyer later noted that only 30 years of the 70-year federal sentence are officially designated as consecutive to the Portage County punishment.
Duncan still faces sex offense and child pornography charges in Geauga County for what she did to the Chardon girl.
During the sentencing hearing in Portage County, Prosecutor Connie Lewandowski explained to the court how Duncan inserted herself into the victim’s family and became a trusted person.
The toddler’s mother found Duncan through a well-respected online platform that matches caregivers with families, and at first, the arrangement seemed ideal.
Duncan was an established nanny with no known issues, and she was studying child psychology, as seen on Record Courier.
Duncan gave the little girl gifts and treats and took her out to eat, but according to prosecutor Lewandowski, behind that generous image was “a sick, perverted woman who exploited the trust of this family.”
As weeks passed, the child’s behavior shifted, and she grew distressed whenever her mother left. She developed urinary tract infections so severe that she needed surgery and hospitalization, leaving a permanent scar. About four months after hiring Duncan, the mother fired her when she simply didn’t show up for work.
“There is evil in the world, your honor, and its name is Molly Duncan,” said the girl’s mother as she addressed the judge. She complained that her daughter used to be a free-spirited toddler willing to play with anyone, but that she now needs regular therapy and lives with anxiety, fear, and nightly trouble sleeping. “Since this incident, we have seen a noticeable change,” she said.
Duncan, wearing an orange jail jumpsuit, spoke at her sentencing hearing in Portage County. She stated that the “immeasurable” sorrow and remorse she feels every second “cannot be expressed in words.” She said she never intended to cause harm and denied being evil, claiming she’d had “thousands of opportunities” to molest children in the past and never acted on them.
However, Judge Pittman was unmoved, and she handed down the maximum sentence. “What the hell happened in your life that would make you think this was alright?” the judge asked. “Explain it to me.”
Duncan then replied the Judge saying that she lives with eight or nine mental health diagnoses and that, in her late teen years, she was brutally raped and abused by a much older man. She called it a “cycle of abuse” but said that wasn’t an excuse.
“There are no words to describe what you did to this child. It’s cruel. I am sure you will re-offend,” Judge Pittman blunt responded.
In addition to the prison term, Judge Pittman classified Duncan as a Tier III sex offender. This means that she would have to register with her local sheriff every 90 days for the rest of her life — if she ever got out, as the consecutive life sentences make that extremely unlikely.
