Double Homicide Case: Construction Worker Faces Trial After He is accusd of Killing Two of His Girlfriends
A construction worker accused of murdering two of his former girlfriends is scheduled to stand trial next year.
Carl Cooper, aged 65, is facing charges for the killings of Naomi Hunte, 41, and Fiona Holm, 48, both of whom had been in relationships with him at different times.
Cooper's arrest came after the discovery of his first girlfriend's body, Ms. Hunte, at her home in Congleton Grove, Woolwich, on February 14 of last year.
She was found partially clothed with a single stab wound to her chest. Four days later, Cooper was arrested on suspicion of her murder. He was later released on bail while further investigations were conducted.
His second girlfriend, Ms. Holm, has been described as a vulnerable individual during court proceedings, as she was reported missing on June 29 of this year after not being seen.

Concerned by the presence of moldy food in her fridge and linen in her washing machine, her family notified the authorities.
With no activity recorded in her bank statements since June 20, her disappearance raised suspicions, leading the police to initiate a murder investigation.
The search for Ms. Holm's body is ongoing, focused on the southeast London area.
Due to logistical issues, Cooper could not be present for his initial court appearance at the Old Bailey, resulting in the continuation of the hearing in his absence.
A plea hearing has been scheduled for October 3, followed by a four-week trial beginning on June 4, 2024, presided over by a High Court judge.
The judge ordered arrangements to be made for the defendant's appearance in court to ensure he receives information regarding his case.
Cooper, residing on Broadfield Road near Hither Green in southeast London, remains in custody pending further proceedings.
