Inside the Shocking Trial of Taylor Schabusiness: A Grisly Case Unfolds

The trial of Taylor Schabusiness, a 25-year-old woman from Green Bay, charged with the killing and dismemberment of her friend in February 2022, began on Monday in Brown County Circuit Court.

The charges against her include first-degree intentional homicide, third-degree sexual abuse, and mutilating a corpse.

According to authorities, the victim, Shad Thyrion, a 24-year-old from Green Bay, was found dead in his basement, with evidence suggesting he had been strangled with a metal chain and decapitated.

A timeline of events leading up to the trial includes a series of legal developments.

The trial had its share of challenges, and Schabusiness was held in the Brown County Jail on $2 million bail.

In February 2023, Schabusiness attacked her former attorney, leading to a change in legal representation.

The court ruled her competent to stand trial despite objections from her new lawyer, Christopher Froelich, who requested a new psychological evaluation.

Throughout the proceedings, the defence and prosecution presented conflicting views on Schabusiness' mental state.

In July 2023, the court finally ruled her fit to assist in her defence, and the trial proceeded with opening statements from both sides.

The victim's mother provided heartbreaking testimony about discovering her son's severed head in the basement, while law enforcement officials testified about their investigation.

As the trial unfolds, the public awaits justice in this chilling case that has gripped the community.
